I'm so upset, I can't even type about it right now. :(

Here come the meds!!
I've done everything I could to manage my GD on my own through diet. However, anytime I eat my 45-60g of carbs in a meal, my numbers jump. I am meeting with a high risk OB nurse practioner on Friday to discuss medication options. So sad, but its whats best for baby! I'll post an update then.

Yum!
Tonights dinner was a huge success - 95! A medium antipasto salad, 3 Meatballs covered in mushrooms, green peppers, and cheese - oh and 1/2 piece of garlic bread. It all came from my favorite restaurant. Woo hoo!
My mom also bought me a huge Sam's Club veggie tray, so I've been snacking on that nonstop since veggies are free! Sooo good but I can't wait to eat fruit again, and I seriously miss my OJ!
Hopefully my fasting numbers will stay low!

3lbs 9oz!!
We got some great news today - even though GD babies tend to be large, baby Tori is actually measuring a little small! She is only 3lbs 9oz and in the 44th percentile. Phew! I was so worried that I'd be pushing out a 9 pounder, but the doctor assured me that at this rate, she'd probably be around 7lbs (maybe a little bit bigger). We go for another growth scan at 34wks!
In other news, I followed up with my dietician. I have had mostly good and but some bad meals. Its been trial and error. Though I've lost a few pounds, ok 7, so she asked me to up my carbs to see how I do. Also my fasting numbers are right at 89, so we are hoping they don't start turning into 91s, and 92s - because that means medication!
I guess only time will tell - but I am willing to do whats best for baby!

Sugar Free does not equal Low Carb
I was at Walgreens on Friday, and saw SugarFree York Peppermint Patties. So I bought them... and consumed probably 1/2 the bag in the car. Today, I turned the bag over... and to my horror there are 28g of carbs in each one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This poor child. What did I do on Friday? OMG I am surprised I didn't go into some sort of carb overdose.
I need to read labels better - lesson learned. MaxOrTori FAIL!

I am not eating enough carbs.
WTF? According to my dietitian, I am not eating enough carbs... and eating too much protein. Um... wasn't this the plan? So I have to go back in on Wednesday for another lesson in eating with GD. I am also down 7lbs from the 21st. She was not pleased. I reminded her that when I eat more than the 30g of carbs in a meal, I spike - so then she wanted me to medicate. I said I wanted more time, and that hopefully I can do this with diet and exercise alone. We'll see what happens. I ate alot of carbs at lunch (she wanted me to try 60g), so hopefully I won't spike too high. ::fingers crossed::

Dinner Sucks
I failed 3 dinners this week. I have a feeling the dietician is going to want to see me again. I did my best to watch my carbs, but last night I really spiked. I thought 1/2 a chicken wrap from Applebees with a side of veggies would be OK - but it wasn't. I got a 153! I was really disappointed in myself - I thought I knew what I was doing. Maybe it was the tortilla? Maybe it was the sauce (I only used a little)? I guess I will need to cross that meal off the list.

So far, so good - with one exception
PUT DOWN THE BALLPARK PIZZA!! I had two thicker crust slices of pizza yesterday, because its all I could find at the Brewers game last night. I tested two hours later - 135! NO! I failed. I felt terrible for Victoria.
The good news is, all my other numbers have been good. Meals haven't had much variety to them. Lots of whole grain bread, string cheese, peanut butter, and almonds. I think this weekend, I will need to go grocery shopping. Maybe some greens will do me good!

Met with the dietician
She was pretty nice, and laughed over my obsession with juice. I learned how to use my glucose monitor (after 4 poke attempts), and she gave me strict guidelines regarding my carbs.
I think it will be doable. 15g of carbs with my 2 snacks, 30g of carbs with my breakfast and lunch, and up to 60g of carbs with my dinner. I even managed to eat Wendys for dinner last night - I got a chili and baked potato, and passed with flying colors!
My numbers need to be under 120 after 2 hours of eating breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I am also supposed to be under 90 first thing in the morning. This means I have to test 4 times daily (yuck) but so far it hasn't been too bad.
Since 4 PM yesterday, I have passed all my tests - YAY! We shall see how my breakfast registers. I am a little nervous....

Off to the dietician
I have a 4PM appointment with a dietician / nutritionist. I am going to learn more about GD and I am also going to be getting a monitor. I didn't realize that I'd be poking myself 4 times a day - my fingers are going to be black and blue!
Wish me luck - I am going to need it.

Recap
I failed my 3 hour screen last week Friday, August 21. Since then, I have been struggling to eat "low carb" and "low sugar" foods. My husband doesn't think I am doing a very good job at the low carb diet, but I honestly think I have cut my carbs in 1/2. Sugar hasn't really been a problem... I am not a sweets eater to begin with.
So far, I really miss juice. Orange juice to be exact. I used to drink a container in 1-2 days without even thinking about it. I broke down and had 1/2 a glass of lite OJ today. It was about 8g of sugar. Then I felt guilty. :( Tomorrow is another day.
